I heard the idea today that all software products are going to be free.

Social media posts are free to create and consume.

Software will also be free to create and consume.

App development would be so commoditized that the default state of the ocean would be red, no matter how novel your idea is.

Just like you can copy a social media post and claim it was your original idea, software can be copied the same way.

That would make B2C software effectively free unless you tie it to hardware or something tangible in the real world that offers physical value.

The future of B2C software is not so soft after all.
